As a planning partner, we have decades of expertise and extensive detailed knowledge in our specialist fields of competence, which is complemented by our practical experience in all project phases of plant construction, cold and hot commissioning of thermal treatment plants and in their operational optimization (see Partners).

In those fields of expertise that we do not cover ourselves, such as construction planning and EMSR planning, we have been working with our proven planning partners for many years.

On this solid basis, we can support you in the successful development and implementation of your projects as an independent general planner who exclusively represents your interests as the client.

Plant construction projects are characterized by enormous project complexity.

Or you face another process engineering, environmental or waste management challenge for which there are no “off-the-shelf” solutions?

Based on the many years or decades, respectively, of practical experience of UVP’s experts, we take over the project management and guarantee that all tasks, sub-projects, interfaces, battery limits and schedules are coordinated in a performance-oriented and timely manner.

In order to find the best customized solution for this task, our concepts & strategies take into account all relevant technical context, legal framework requirements, and economic conditions.

Our concept is further elaborated as part of a feasibility study. Investment costs, operating costs, market prices, waste qualities, treatment costs and already foreseeable future changes to the legal framework are included in the economic analysis.

In a comparison of variants, we compare the preferential concept with possible alternative solutions and thus provide you with a reliable basis for decision-making.

As early as possible in the permit application process, we seek contact with the competent authority and their responsible official experts, present the project to them and obtain initial feedback from them on the conceptual design we have developed.

Submission planning includes basic engineering and the preparation of all necessary planning documents for permit application, in close ongoing coordination with you as the client and with your legal representative in the permitting procedure.
Our experience covers submission procedures in accordance with waste legislation, IPPC, BAT, water legislation etc.
We are responsible for project management and manage the contact and exchange with the competent authority’s official experts.

In the tendering phase, we either define and specify the individual lots for your plant construction project or for the tendering of a turnkey plant in the form of an overall contract (EPC, Engineering – Procurement – Construction).
In both cases, we are at your side as an experienced and reliable owner’s engineer, taking on the specification of the scope of supply and services, supervising the tendering process, evaluating the bids received from both a technical and commercial point of view, supporting you in the contract award negotiations and in selecting the best supplier(s).

During the construction phase, we work closely with our client’s project team or, if required, take over the coordination and project management on site. We take care of the project’s interface management and subject the detail engineering of the plant supplier(s) to our critical review.

We support you on site during cold and hot commissioning of the plant, during the execution of test operation, performance tests and acceptance procedure.

We provide training and instruction for your specialist personnel for plant operation.

Based on their relevant practical experience in previous activities and projects, our employees can also support you in the operational phase, in optimizing plant operation, through process simulation of operating conditions and through trouble-shooting in the event of acute problems in plant operation.

If required, we support you in managing contacts with authorities and in fulfilling reporting obligations, including in the preparation of annual emission reports, in calculating the R1 value, in determining the need for adaptation to the Best Available Techniques (BAT) and in elaborating the technical basis for required adaptations of the operation permit.

3D Layout Planning
 
As part of our studies, submission and tender planning, we use the databank-based program AutoCAD Plant 3D to create 3D models. We can share these directly with our project partners and customers via interfaces. The 3D models support us in layout and installation planning. The visualization gives our customers, the responsible competent permitting authorities and the interested public at an early stage an impression of what the future plant will look like.
Modelling – Process Simulation
 
In all planning phases, we rely on advanced process simulation tools to precisely map your plant construction projects. With the powerful simulation software Ebsilon® Professional, we combine and link complex processes such as drying, combustion, boilers, flue gas condensation units, water-steam cycles and heat pumps.

We simulate various load cases (e.g. full load, partial load) and operating cases (e.g. summer and winter operation) in the early planning phase. We create precise forecasts of material flows, energy efficiencies and optimal process solutions. These provide our clients with a sound basis for decision-making.

We also support and improve your processes during the operating phase. By using our innovative simulation tools, we identify efficiency losses and measurement errors and optimize the economic operation of your plant.
