Working Groups & Networking

ÖWAV

The Austrian Water and Waste Management Association (ÖWAV) is a non-profit organisation founded in 1909, which represents the entire spectrum of water and waste management in Austria, having the aim of achieving sustainable water, wastewater and waste management at national and international level. The ÖWAV provides its over 3.000 members a sector network and a neutral and independent platform for all specialized experts and involved professional groups as well as up-to-date information and a balance of interests in the national water, wastewater and waste management. Members of the ÖWAV are public administrations, municipal services, private sectors and universities.

The main tasks of the association include the elaboration of ÖWAV-regulations provided by working groups within the association’s professional departments, the development and organisation of education and training offerings related to practical needs as well as information and communication.

Employees of UVP GmbH have been active members of the organisation for many years, contributing e.g. to conferences (event planning, lectures, moderation), working groups, and seminars. Another example of the company’s activities is the training course “Mechanical processing and thermal waste treatment”, which has been organised by UVP GmbH and has been a popular part of the ÖWAV training program.

UVP ‘s experts have been and still are actively involved in the following ÖWAV working groups and committees:

  • Working Committee “Thermal Treatment”
  • Working Committee “Landfill”
  • Working Committee “Sewage Sludge Platform”
  • Subcommittee for the preparation of an expert paper “Requirements for the operator of sewage treatment and incineration plants for phosphorus recovery”
  • Subcommittee for the preparation of the ÖWAV guideline No. 519 “Energy Efficiency of Waste Incineration Plants” (2nd edition 2013)
  • Subcommittee for the program planning of the ÖWAV Sewage Sludge Conference
  • Initiative “Women in Water and Waste Management”

ISWA

The International Solid Waste Association (ISWA) is a network consisting of many experts of the sector, its main goal is to pursue and contribute to a sustainable and professional waste management worldwide. ISWA is a meeting point for experts from all over the world.
We are a longstanding member in many working groups of ISWA and are in a constant exchange of information and know-how with our local and international colleagues.

The Study Tours on Waste-to-Energy organised and conducted by the experts of UVP GmbH in cooperation with ISWA Austria offer young technicians from all over the world a well-founded insight into the technology of thermal waste utilisation.

SAVT

The Association of Students and Graduates of Process Engineering at the Vienna University of Technology (SAVT) was founded in 1993 by a group of former master and PhD students of the Department of Process Engineering, Fuel Technology and Environmental Engineering, including two of the current owners of UVP GmbH, Albert Zschetzsche and Helga Stoiber.

By now, “our” department has changed its name to the Institute of Process Engineering, Environmental Technology and Technical Biosciences, but the SAVT association still lives on.

t has become an important link between “the alumni” and “the young” and provides all those who are linked to the department with an opportunity for intergenerational exchange, for advertising and finding jobs, thesis projects, internships and much more.

Since its foundation, SAVT has been organizing numerous different activities and has published the association magazine “Der Reaktor” several times a year.

The SAVT barbecue, which takes place every year towards the end of the summer term in the so-called “Geniehof” at TU Wien, has long since achieved legendary status, boasting around 600 visitors each year.

The 100th issue of the “Reaktor” published on 12.12.2012 provides a brief insight into the history of the SAVT association.
