Thanks to the usual excellent collaboration with ISWA Austria and the ISWA Working Group on Energy Recovery (WGER), UVP GmbH once again hosted a fully booked event attended by participants from several continents, which the ISWA reported on as follows:

“Another successful ISWA Study Tour has come to a close!

Originally launched in Austria in 2011, the ISWA Study Tours are technical seminars designed for engineers and waste management professionals. By combining expert presentations with site visits, the program offers a unique opportunity to connect theory with practice. This year, we were delighted to welcome contributions from UVP Environmental Management and Engineering GmbH, the City of Vienna MA48, University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna (BOKU), Brantner green solutions, ISWA Austria, and ISWA’s Working Group on Energy Recovery (WGER).

Over five days in Vienna, Austria, 28 professionals from around the world came together for an intensive exploration of Waste-to-Energy (WtE), an area in which Austria has been at the forefront for more than six decades.

The program covered key aspects of modern WtE systems, including regulatory frameworks, incineration technologies, energy recovery, environmental protection, public acceptance, and contracting models. These discussions were complemented by visits to Austrian waste incineration and recycling facilities, where operators generously shared their experience and answered questions from the group.

The study tour concluded with a B2B meeting and a country perspectives roundtable, creating a valuable opportunity to connect and to exchange experiences and discuss common challenges and opportunities across Finland, India, Croatia, Malta, Slovenia, South Africa, the USA, the UK, Serbia, Zimbabwe, and France.

A heartfelt thank you to all participants for their enthusiasm, engagement, and willingness to share their perspectives: Renja Rautiainen, Nilesh Patil, Antonija Ujaković Plichta, Ivan Barbić, Margareta Šeparović Ručević, Stefan Montebello, Gabriella Grima, Andrej Ivanc, Gašper Kuzele, Waldo Grobbelaar, Malala Rasoamanana, Chloe Stearn, Igor Jezdimirović, Camilo Fernandes, Dr Dilesh Nguwaya, Simon Mudyawabikwa, Lazilly Gozho, Major Kachamaenza, Simbarashe Muchena, Mupamburi N. Chipfupa, Anesu Zingambe, Amos Kapenzi, Phillers Gwengo, Chiedza Mupfumira, Nicholas Bakili, Tafadzwa Reggis, Dzingai Tatenda, Diana Makarudze, Fabrice Juquois.
